End Mindless Snacking with Herbal Tea
Have you heard people say that when you think you’re hungry, you might actually just be thirsty? Retrain your hunger signals, end mindless eating and encourage better weight management by drinking herbal tea.
Does this sound familiar? It’s a weekday. You’re working at your computer. You have a long list of work to complete but your attention is waining. You’ve already had lunch but your mind wanders to what snacks you have laying around. By the end of your work day you’ve eaten more sugar and processed snacks than you’ve intented. This only leaves you feeling even more tired, sluggish and even dehydrated.
As a naturopath, I see food as a great joy. I also see food as nourishment for your body that gives you the energy and essential nutrients needed to be in optimal health. However, for much of the time that we are eating throughout the day, we are not eating because we’re hungry. Mindless eating can occur when we’re bored, emotional, stressed and even thirsty.
During the work day, it is very normal to have moments where your attention fades. Providing we are taking our breaks and eating a nutrient dense lunch, we do not need to be consuming foods that are laden with sugar, that are highly processed and full of refined carbohydrates. Mindless eating can lead to weight gain, energy crashes, blood sugar issues, brain fog - just to name a few.
Fostering a healthy relationship around food is important, and therefore depriving ourselves can lead to feelings of guilt, shame and the impulse to rebel. Focusing on healthy swaps instead is a great way to take charge of your health and connect back with the signals that your body is giving you.
